Social Restaurant and Bar

The high roller burger is probably the best burger I have ever had (I did modify it by removing the seafood component). Their signature drinks are also excellent.The inside of the restaurant is very nice. It seems a bit up scale in terms of decoration but the prices are not bad and I have seen plenty of people in jeans and t-shirts. The service can be a bit slow at times if it is busy, but the staff is super friendly. I would definitely recommend trying this place out.

Never been to Boston before but, very much an ultra visitor to say the least. Checked into my room and afterwards, came to lobby level, giving the downstairs watering hole a peak. I was blissfully bestowed what any transient could ask for. Great food options, proper lighting, appropriately amplified and selected of music. All very valid points but, unjust to its Crown Jewel, the bar staff. Scott and Dani. My traveling crew and myself would check in very night just to get an pour from such a welcoming and genuine individuals, both armed with beautifully mixed cocktails and converse wit. Still to this day, making difficulty to attempt comparison.

We have been here for five days and have been happy with the food, the service and the drinks. Friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere, great location for our needs. Prices a little high, but it's a hotel restaurant. We will stay here again.

Can't say enough good things about Social!! Every time we go there, we are greeted by the kindest people. Everyone at the restaurant has the same caliber of work ethic and customer service. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is beautiful! I've also hosted multiple events there and have had a wonderful experience every time. They never disappoint and go above and beyond to ensure everyone at your party has a great time. The space is the best to host an event in/around the Newton Area. We're so lucky that we live right down the street. We have one of our favorite restaurants right near us! Thank you to all those that work at the Social for making our experiences so wonderful!!

I have only been here once, when staying at the Newton Plaza. We all enjoyed our food and the service was excellent. I did not have any alcohol that night but I heard from others that the drinks were very good. Will definitely be back when in the area again.

The Social Restaurant is an excellent place to be on Thanksgiving and any dinner for that matter! We are so grateful to eat here with our whole crew many times. Truly accomadating! Thank you!

The food is okay but very pricey.

This was our second time to stay at this hotel. We really appreciate having a good restaurant and bar on the premises. Good food, friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere. Good Sunday brunch with live music. We'll be back

Went on a slow, week night and it was really nice, from the bartender to the food. Got the chicken mac and cheese, was really tasty! My friend got the yellow fin tuna dish and they enjoyed it as well.

Always have a decent time going here

The bar seats were almost all full, but the host saw we wanted to sit there and asked someone to move one seat over to accomodate my wife and I. Great service and great food. Definitely coming back. Prices are reasonable

Had a good lunch here with my girlfriend. The restaurant was almost empty so they had a few staff working but they were all friendly and took care of us. The food was really good we thought (we each got a burger). The restaurant space is beautiful and spacious. Overall a great meal.

The sunday night bartender was very nice and friendly

Late night menu is terrible--basically just burgers and salads, with barely any appetizers. Nothing for a quick bite, especially considering how heavy their sandwiches are. Unacceptable for a hotel bar, especially when there's very little open late in the area. Food is decent but decadent, and choices are limited. Ambiance is good, but service is hit or miss.

Nice place to visit once a while

Relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food at the right price. I highly recommend going here on your lunch break or on a night out.

The best brunch I have had in a long time! The chef knows how to deliver a flavorful dish; textures and tastes seem to dance together so every element is seamlessly noticed and appreciated. The cappuccino is like a velveteen slap in the taste buds, with a deep and velvety texture and taste. Just the right amount of acidic fruit and chocolate notes.

Ate a group dinner in their private room. First of all, the private room was great -- it was a nice size for our group and just the right amount of separation from the rest of the restaurant. Service was fantastic. The food (from a set menu) was fantastic. The management was super accommodating for us as well.

20$ hamburger that was raw. Asked for well done. Second one was still rare in the middle.

Service was slow and inattentive. Drinks were so so. So many better places to go. I guess if your staying at the hotel and don't want to go far, it's okay, but I'd walk across the street to Buffs.

This was an under the radar spot. Ordered the filet, substituted in the root vegetables and Brussels sprouts. It was outstanding, as well the service. I finished up with a very, very good creme brulee. Entree and dessert pictured. This is an excellent local restaurant worth a try. I'll definitely be back.

Excellent food, great service. I have trouble giving 5 stars, sorry. The Mac 'n' cheese was delicious: flavorful, rich, but not overwhelming. The roasted cauliflower was great; it comes with sriracha peanuts, which are good, but completely unnecessary. The cauliflower and sauce stand on their own. The portobello burger tasted great but was impossible to eat like a burger. Knife and fork and totally worth it.UPDATE (1/2020): No more cauliflower, which is a shame, but the roasted broccoli is fantastic. Consistency is key for me. The staff is always friendly, and the food is great. They've had to tailor their menu for the "hotel crowd," but that doesn't mean they're serving reheated hotel food. Again, the grilled broccoli is scrummy, and the fish and chips special is one of the best I've ever had. Viviane was a delight. Thank you!

Delicious food, attentive servers, and a casual atmosphere. You can't go wrong at Social.

They hosted drinks and snacks for a bachelor party I organized a few weeks ago, and they were amazing! Coordinating with the management was easy and I was met with nothing but enthusiasm. The manager went above and beyond by arranging for the chef to create a custom cheese plate for our party (even though it's not on their menu), and even helped me cover it with silly homemade decorations before the groom arrived! The bar staff was attentive and friendly, and the drinks were great. Everyone in our party agreed that we can't wait to go back for dinner soon!

Food here is very top notch.. Restaurant is part of the Hotel but you can see that locals come in. Nice wine list and Low-Mid level pricing.

The Social Restaurant and Bar is directly connected to the Crowne Plaza Boston - Newton. By directly connected, I mean you can go from the lobby of the hotel directly into the Bar/Restaurant. There is a large bar as well as ample dining seating. The weekend we were there, Boston College played Florida (beat them 35-3) and there were alot of Students and Alums who stayed here. THe Social Restaurant and Bar reflected that vibrancy.

Nasty food and awful service. The waiter checks on you once in 30 mins and gives attitude.

Came in for brunch with 2 girlfriends who were visiting from out of town. The new brunch menu is excellent—we had the tostada, a biscuit sandwich, prosciutto and cheddar omelette and shared a side of chocolate chip pancakes (plus several Bloody Mary’s and mimosas). Everything was delicious! Social is warm, welcoming, and the hospitality is second to none. Definitely worth the trip in from Boston (15 min Uber!) and will certainly be back again soon.

Hotel Bar.....woth great atmosphere. Look at it this way: We came in from out of town late, checked into the hotel, and needed a drink. (if you know what I mean!) Great variety of local beers on tap, some from Maine and Vermont too. Pretty crowded for a Wednesday night, but plenty of room at the bar. I was tortured by having to watch the Celtics game (I'm from LA), but i could get into the spirit of things.....So, 5 stars.

Only went for drinks and private room/section event. Bar has varied selection of choices and a few choices for a single-malt scotch drinker like myself.
